Banshee is a trio of musicians who specialise in playing Celtic flavoured music whilst also providing a comprehensive workshop service to schools and festivals
Banshee’s aims are:-
• To use music to develop and inspire young people
• To assist schools by providing an innovative musical product that will underpin and support the National Numeracy and Literacy Strategy
• To provide a quality service to schools that fits both the National Curriculum and the individual schools requirements.
In order to understand what Banshee have to offer please ask yourself the following questions:
When did you last
play the Hambone ?
make music with a paper bag ?
enjoy touching a double bass ?
recognize a mandola ?
engage with others to create rhythm and rhyme ?
value your body as a musical instrument ?
If you have done all these things, you need read no further, please give us a ring because we could use you. If you can’t answer these questions, imagine how stimulated you would be if you did these things, what would you learn?
Would your school be able to take advantage of a more interesting and enjoyable way to meet some literacy and numeracy objectives? If other National Curriculum subjects like history, geography, art, science, personal social and health education and citizenship were included in the programme, would your staff be interested? Would some new ideas for brain breaks and musical instrument design and technology be useful?
